BRAND NEW and FREE COMPILATION "THE YOUTH ARE GETTING RESTLESS"

It is available now via the compilations Facebook page where you can get all the download/streaming info. Featuring over 20 bands, all from Maryland and raging in styles from punk rock, to hardcore, to metal, to indie rock. Baltimore’s Mindset kicks in a new song titled “Enough” off of the still un-released “Leave No Doubt” album due out on React! Records. Matt’s idea for putting this comp together was started by how much he was influenced by punk and hardcore compilations of the 1990’s and wanting to try and bring the comp back. Looks like a good start and the price is right as well. Get it here:

HELP SUPPORT HATE5SIX.COM!

Hate5Six is a one man operation run by Sunny Singh out of Philadelphia, PA. Sunny started hate5six in 2002 as a DIY medium where he could help promote and document local bands in the South Jersey area. Everything Sunny puts up on his site is free to the public and since 2007 he has put up hundreds of high quality live sets from hardcore bands from everywhere. On August 25th at the Quicksand show in Brooklyn Sunny was ejected from the show about 15 minutes into Quicksand’s set for using his recording equipment. Sunny pointed out that other types of recording devices were allowed to stay and film while he was ejected. Shortly afterwards a petition was started and the link also gives more insight into the night in question. See the link at the end of this article.

Here you can see some of the great work that Hate5Six does in the form of Terror’s This Is Hardcore set from August 9TH at the Union Transfer in Philly. The site is getting more and more expensive to maintain and there is a donation page if you feel so obliged to do so. The site is advertisement free, very upfront about what they do and something that the hardcore scene at large benefits from by having around. If you can, help keep it going even if it is shooting the guy an email telling him what a great job he is doing.

UK's GALLOWS NEW SELF TITLED LP ON BRIDGE 9 RECORDS DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 18th

Gallows from the UK are finally ready to unleash the next phase of their punk rock attack on the world with the highly anticipated release to their successful “Grey Britain” album (2009). The 11 song self-titled LP is set for release on September 18, 2012 via Bridge Nine Records in the USA.

“Gallows” was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by long-term friends on the band Thomas Mitchener and Steve Sears at Broadfields Studio in Watford in May this year. "We made this record self-titled as it musically defines the band known as Gallows as we exist today," explained the band. "This is our statement of intent, our laugh in the face of those who said Gallows were done when in reality, we're just warming up," they continue. "We couldn't feel more vindicated and proud."

Gallows are ready and fired up to take their new album on the road. Known for putting on a killer live show, the band will bring their addictive, raucous energy to North America in November. A free download of the new, ferocious track "Last June" is available from www.gallows.co.uk.  Kicking off with a pounding, fuzzed-out bass drum attack, the song gives listeners a taste of what's to come. The US/Canadian tour with Barnburner kicks off November 2nd at The Ottobar in Baltimore and finishes up November 26th in Portland, OR at the Hawthorne Theatre. Check out the video for the track “Last June” on the In Effect videos page: http://www.ineffecthardcore.com/videos/

KNOW THE SCORE TO RETURN WITH NEW EP "STRAY DOGS" ON ESCAPIST THIS FALL

Know The Score in Miami, 2008. Photo by: Zac Wolf

Escapist Records is pleased to announce plans to release a brand new Know The Score 7”/Digital EP late this fall.  Titled “Stray Dogs”, the EP will contain all new material and be available in both vinyl and digital formats. The vinyl release will feature four different silk-screened covers that when placed together create a larger panel image.  Meanwhile, the digital version of the EP will be available on a donation-based system with proceeds going to the South Florida Bullies Canine Rescue.

Bassist Nicholas Smith had this to say of the new release: “We have been shooting around the concept for this record for almost five years and it is finally coming to light with the help of Michael, our long time brother at Escapist Records. It seems people within hardcore are extremely eager to give their money away to keep felons out of jail, pay for medical bills caused by bad decisions, and to cover peoples/bands irresponsible misfortunes. No one is paying for the terrible decisions I have made, so why should I pay for theirs? Why not harness that generosity behind a cause that is worthy of sympathy and awareness? South Florida Bullies Canine Rescue is a non-profit organization run by friends of ours who have been involved with the hardcore scene for several years now. South Florida Bullies has a hell of a fight and could use any help to spread awareness and keep their mission running steady. The subject matter and the overall goal of this record transcend anything we have done in the past. Like always, our music speaks for itself and will again serve as a testament to several subjects that go ignored.”

Originally formed in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in the early 2000’s, Know the Score has released two full-length records and shared the stage with the likes of Blacklisted, Ringworm, Terror, Cold World, and 100 Demons. The band’s debut LP, “All Guts, No Glory”, was released in 2005 on Goodbye Blue Skies Recordings and their second LP, “All Time Low”, followed the next year via Eulogy Recordings. Eulogy eventually re-released the first LP in 2008 as “All Guts, Still No Glory” with the addition of new and unreleased songs. Know the Score will enter the studio in early September to record for the effort, which they will be supporting with an appearance at Bringing It Back For The Kids Fest 2 in South Florida this October. Additional plans for an Eastcoast/Midwest trip and California trek are also in the works.

DANVILLE CALIFORNIA's ZERO PROGRESS "THE VOID" EP

This past week Matthew Toress of Isolation Zine (CA) turned me on to the new ZERO PROGRESS EP called "The Void" which came out on June 23rd. The bands sound is a total throwback to the days of bands like Krakdown, Straight Ahead and I even think a little No For An Answer. A grizzled 50 year old punk rocker can throw this on and once again think that "punks really not dead!" Get this as a 7" vinyl EP for 5 bucks via Piledriver Records or as a FREE download via Bandcamp.
