POISON IDEA TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM "CONFUSE & CONQUER" ON APRIL 7TH

Poison Idea (who got their start way back in 1980!) are back on April 7th with a brand new 11 song/35 minute album on Southern Lord Recordings titled “Confuse & Conquer”. This will be PI’s first new album since 2006 with US and European tours already in the works. Southern Lord has also been working with TKO on reintroducing deluxe versions of Poison Idea’s back-catalog over recent years, including “Darby Crash Rides Again”, “The Fatal Erection Years” and “Kings Of Punk”. In addition to the release of the brand new “Confuse & Conquer” album in 2015, expanded reissues of “War All The Time”, “Feel The Darkness” and more are also in the works for the coming years. Comeback Kid’s “Wake The Dead” album came out 10 years ago back on February 22nd 2005. Their singer at the time (Scott Wade) has dug up some old tracks that were previously unreleased. First up is an untitled track from the same recording sessions as the LP followed by a demo version of “Talk Is Cheap” off of “Wake The Dead”.

The Unofficial Guide To Rare & Unheard NYHC is a 16 page PDF file/zine that you can download and check out now from Cooch and CC. These guys really know their shit on old NYHC releases (and rumors) that never happened or were so obscure they practically didn’t exist! Some of the albums and demos that they mention were rumored to have been recorded but never saw the light of day for whatever reason making for even a bigger “urban myth” type of deal. Items mentioned include Token Entry’s “Ready Or Not Here We Come” 7” was supposed to be a 10 song 12” full length LP on Rat Cage Records, A Gorilla Biscuits LP titled “The Pizza” LP, a Warzone LP with Tommy Rat (Trip 6, Rejuvenate) on vocals and Raybeez on drums, an Icemen LP, and an Underdog demo with Carl The Mosher (RIP) singing among a bunch of others. The writers choose their words carefully and are clear when they point out that some of these releases may or may not exist. The idea that some of these recordings may still be buried in someone’s basement or attic and could one day be released makes the urban myth thing even greater.

MODERN PAIN SIGNS WITH BRIDGE NINE RECORDS

If you read In Effect on a regular basis you know how much we LOVE Modern Pain out of Dallas. They checked in with the #9 release of 2014 in our year end roundup, we have interviewed them in the past and like to spread the word on how underappreciated we think they are with 3 stellar EP’s under their belts. Modern Pain has now teamed up with Bridge 9 and start recording for a still untitled debut album on March 7th with a late summer release in the works. CRUMBSUCKERS TO RE-ISSUE OLD CATALOG ON CD VIA REAL GONE MUSIC 

The Crumbsuckers who are re-forming to play the Black N Blue Bowl in NYC this May are working with Real Gone Music on re-issuing their 2 albums “Life Of Dreams” and “Beast On My Back” which came out respectively in 1986 and 1988 on one CD. Look for new liner notes from Tony Rettman who recently released the book “NYHC- New York Hardcore 1980-1990”.
