Black ‘N Blue Bowl 2016 is starting to gear up and this past Tuesday night on the Black ‘N Blue Takeover Radio Show they announced some of the bands who will take part in the 2016 edition which will take place the weekend of May 14th at Webster Hall in NYC. The bands who were announced were Regulate, Rhythm Of Fear, Blind Justice, Billy Club Sandwich, Rykers, The Adolescents, and Madball who will be performing their “Demonstrating My Style” album from 1996 in its entirety. Sick Of It All is currently working on a release to coincide with their 30th anniversary as a band. Click HERE for their videos page to catch a short clip of Armand laying down some drums. SOIA hits Europe starting March 3rd running through the 20th. 

 

Sweden’s Mörbultad have put out a lyric video with a twist as it is a cover of H2O’s “What Happened” sung in Swedish. Check it out HERE

 

Blackout Records and Sheer Terror are working on a re-issue called “The Bulldog Box” which will feature the band’s Blackout Records releases and more remastered and pressed onto limited edition vinyl. Included will be “Just Can’t hate Enough”, “Thanks Fer Nuthin”, “Old, New, Borrowed & Blue” (Expanded), “Unheard Unloved” (Alternate versions), and “No Grounds For Pity” which are demo tracks that have never been released on vinyl. There will be various options when pre-orders become available including packages with posters, others with t-shirts etc. Famed NYHC artist Sean Taggart will have artwork included in the Bulldog Box as well. Dead City Records has digitally released the entire catalog of the now defunct NY band Shell Shock which includes 4 releases in all. Click HERE for more info. 

 

Truth And Rights are currently working on new music following up on their 2010 release which was a 3 song EP on Six Feet Under Records. The band has Leeway’s Eddie Sutton on vocals, Zak Thorne, guitar, Rey Fonseca, guitar, John Doherty, bass and Dim-Rock on drums who used to be in Crown Of Thronz, Skarhead, and Coldfront. The other members outside of Eddie are all original members of Agents Of Man. Look for a new track to make its debut on an upcoming episode of the Black ‘N Blue Takeover as well as the band to start playing out more after some inactivity. Sweden’s Morbultad have a new album out on February 12th titled  "När Broar Bränns" which translates to “when bridges are burned” in English. This is their first full length after releasing 3 EP’s since their start in 2013. The album was recorded and mixed in their rehearsal space as well as in their guitarist’s bedroom. The band is a total DIY operation with a heavy NYHC influence. Biohazard, Sick of It All and Madball are all favorites of the band and elements of each can be heard within their music. In Effect Hardcore is proud to present to you the world premier of the track “Autoidiot” off of their upcoming album. The Sound & Fury Festival will make its return in 2016 on June 10th and 11th at the Regent Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. 22 bands have already been announced with more to follow when they drop more names on February 29th. Tickets are on sale now. The website for this year’s shows and after shows are really on point with tons of info about hotels in the area, transportation, parking, vendors and just about anything else you can think of. Italy’s Strength Approach have a new album coming out in April titled “Over The Edge”. Recording for the album has just wrapped up in their hometown of Rome and they even had Mitts from Madball come in to take care of things on the production side. Destroy Your World will put out the vinyl with Pennsylvania’s FastBreak! Records putting out the CD version. 2016 also marks Strength Approach’s 20th year. 

 

Candiria will be back in 2016 with a new album on Metal Blade Records. They released a short clip as a preview recently and it should get a lot of you pretty excited. Check it out HERE

Expire are working on their 3rd full length which will come out later this year on Bridge Nine Records. The band has collaborated with B9 to also release their first 2 EP’s as well as an old compilation track from America’s Hardcore Volume 2. This release which is available now on vinyl is titled “Old Songs”. CD and cassette versions of “Old Songs” will be available within the next few weeks. Click HERE for more info.

 

Bridge Nine will also be putting out the new 4 song EP from Cross Me titled “Forever Cursed” which is due out on March 11th. Pre-orders are available now by clicking HERE. Cro-Mags frontman John Joseph announced on Thursday that Bloodclot have signed on with Metal Blade Records and will have a record coming out in 2016. Who is in Bloodclot you ask? The lineup is as follows: John Joseph (vocals) Todd Youth (guitars) Joey Castillo (drums) and Phil Caivano (bass). A Facebook page is up for the band now as well. Out Live Death from Long Island, NY recently had some lineup changes as they welcome in new drummer (Paulie Wozniak from Buying Time) and new bassist (Paul Brinkmann from NoFace and Silent Majority). They also signed a deal with Klabautermann Records out of the Netherlands. Up next is a 4 song split 7 inch with Held Hostage, Selfish Hate, and Dog Track followed by a 4 or 5 song 7 inch with all new Out Live Death songs in the spring.

The New Breed Documentary chronicles the 1989 NYHC tape compilation. Featuring interviews with members of bands that played on the compilation as well as fanzine editors and record label heads from that seminal time period. There will be screenings in NYC, starting in March, as well as throughout the country. As we told you back in November Pissed Off Radio was putting together a 3rd charity compilation… this time to help the “Pink Ink Fund” which provides tattoos over the scars of mastectomy patients, and offers support and outreach for breast cancer patients. Milwaukee’s Cross Me will have their debut Bridge 9 Records release “Forever Cursed” out on March 11th. The new 4 song EP will come out about a month after Cross Me finishes up a 3 week US tour that sees them hitting the East Coast with Eternal Sleep and later dates in the South with Survival Method. The tour kicks off January15th in Columbus, OH and ends at the Midwest Blood Fest on February 5th in New Albany, IN. No Redeeming Social Value have a new website that they just launched to start the new year with an updated clean look that has free music, videos, an NRSV blog, fresh new photo albums, a new merch store including new designs and will also soon have a NRSV podcast. You can also catch No Redeeming on Pandora, Last FM, Soundcloud and Spotify. FYA Fest went down on January 2nd and 3rd at The Orpheum in Tampa, FL. The Rival Mob played the Saturday show and from that came this really cool multi-camera live video from Cameron Nunez which runs 25 minutes long.

Hatebreed’s new album which is still being recorded now has an official title which is “The Concrete Confessional” which should see a spring release on Nuclear Blast. 

 

This year’s annual 3 day Rainfest in Seattle Washington will run from May 27th through the 29th and will be the LAST Rainfest in its 10 year history. This year’s lineup includes 108, Blacklisted, Burn, Terror, Trapped Under Ice and a ton more. Go HERE for more info. 

 

Rebellion Tour 7 is in the works and should have finalized dates posted soon. This annual Euro tour will feature Madball, Rykers, Crown Of Thornz, Knuckledust, and Last Hope for the 2016 edition. 

 

Take Offense’s first record was titled “Peace In Death” and came out in 2008 on Mind Disease Records. It features 6 songs and can now be downloaded off of their Bandamp page

 

While We Wait is a new band featuring Matt Warnke from Crippled Youth/Bold and Andy Guida from Altercation, Supertouch, and Absolution. They have released a 3 song EP on Wardance Records which came out on January 5th. Rest In Peace to two people from the hardcore scene who I didn’t know but from the outpouring of love and support will be sorely missed by many. Robert McAllister who was a mainstay in Long Island bands like Iron Chic and Capital and Keith Brooks from Boston who was a scene mainstay and booked shows there both passed this week. Many kind words and memories came about this week about these two and the underground music scene will miss you both. R.I.P.

3 NEW ALBUMS TO KEEP AN EYE ON IN EARLY 2016

Germany’s World Eater who did an interview with us awhile back are currently working on the follow up to their 2013 album “Wormfeast”. Their new album will have 17 new songs and is titled “The Path”. Germany’s Farewell Records will release this album which is on course for a March release. World Eater lean heavily on their love for NYHC and their last album had a modern day “Victim In Pain” Agnostic Front vibe to it. Check out their track “Calling You Out” and 4 others from that last album to hear what we are talking about!

 

Ignite’s new album “A War Against You” is due out in less than a week on January 8th. The album features 14 tracks and absolutely shreds. Click HERE to hear the track “A War Against You”. Their official band page also features 3 short clips that you can watch surrounding the making of their new album. January 8th also sees them play their record release show with Death By Stereo at The Roxy in West Hollywood followed up the next night by a show in San Diego. A few days later they head to Europe for the majority of the month, most of which will be headlining the 2016 Persistence Tour with Terror, H2O, Iron Reagan, Twitching Tongues, Wisdom In Chains and Risk It. 

 

San Diego’s Castoff who were featured on our Fresh Blood page a few months back are currently working on the follow up to their 2014 EP “Lines And Passages”. Their new album titled “First Step To Recovery” which is due out in early 2016 will have 10 tracks which were recorded at Screaming Leopard Studios in Hermosa Beach, CA. Bird Attack Records will handle the US release with Morning Wood Records handling the European release. Castoff play that classic Cali sounding skatepunk style but throw some hardcore influences in as well to give them a bit more of an edge. Check out their Bandcamp page to check out their last EP which came out last April. 

WISDOM IN CHAINS RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR "VIOLENT AMERICANS"

BUFFALO'S MODERN PROBLEMS FRONTMAN RELOCATED TO CALIFORNIA AND ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR BAND MEMBERS TO RESTART BAND IN NORTH BAY AREA

Frontman Jeremy Smith from Buffalo's Modern Problems has relocated to the North Bay area of California and is looking for musicians to restart Modern Problems on the West Coast. The band (who started in 2014) have a few releases out that you can check out via their Bandcamp page. Not Like You Records will release a vinyl LP with the majority of Modern Problems' recorded material in January titled "Foolish Times". Pre-orders are available HERE

NY'S POINT BLANK CURRENTLY IN THE STUDIO RECORDING FOR NEW EP ON NOT LIKE YOU RECORDS

 

The NY Point Blank are currently in the studio working on a new 6 song EP that again will be on Not Like You Records with an expected release in the fall of 2016. Not Like You Records recently took the Point Blank demo and pressed it on to 7” vinyl with a real high end look to it. Worth a check if you like you some old school NYHC style. Hatebreed are currently in the studio recording a new full length which is due out in the spring of 2016. The band who was already working with Nuclear Blast in Europe has now broadened their relationship with the label who will now also be handling the North American release of the upcoming album.

 

Richmond, VA’s Friend Or Foe have signed on with Flatspot Records. “Foe” is the name of the upcoming EP which will be recorded this winter with and early spring 2016 release.

 

Indecision guitarist Rachel Rosen has started up a company called Caninus Custom Dog Apparel. They make dog collars and leashes that will have band logos on them. First up is Madball. Follow the link below for more info.
